President

Ameena graduated from ODU in 2002 with a B.S. in Accounting. Ameena started in tax preparation and bookkeeping in 1993 working for her dad's firm for eight years. She then worked as an Accountant for a local CPA firm for 2 years before going out on maternity leave to have her son, Conner in 2004. The intention was for her to go back to her career but she found that her priorities had shifted and that going back to work was no longer the plan, at least not right away. She then had twin girls in 2005 and with both of the girls having medical issues, the idea of working outside the home seemed almost impossible. It was then that Ameena realized that since she already had 10 years of experience with accounting and taxes, she should go into business for herself. What started as a small business in her home has grown into a successful business with three employees and many individual and corporate tax clients. Ameena is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals and is on the board of Cerebral Palsy of Virginia. When not working, Ameena enjoys spending time with her family, reading and watching movies.

JOHN KEETER

Lead Tax Preparer

John was born and raised in Edenton, North Carolina. He has 20+ years of Navy experience including living overseas in Spain, England and the Middle East. After retiring from the military, he opened a local small business, “Personal Tax Service, Inc.” which provided payroll and bookkeeping services as well as personal and corporate tax preparation. After 20 years of providing outstanding accounting services to the local community, John decided to retire again. We are very lucky to have him and his vast experience on the Lewis Accounting & Tax Service team.

John and his wife enjoy traveling. They have explored Australia, Canada, England, Scotland and most recently have completed a 6,600 mile driving trip to the Grand Canyon.

Michelle joined our team in September of 2013. Before changing her career path, she worked in retail management for 15+ years. While working with one of the top retailers in the country, she was responsible for producing annual revenue exceeding $2.5 million. Also, she assembled and trained teams focused on outstanding customer service and product knowledge. With this background, Michelle embraces the importance of each of our clients and the need to provide them with individual professional service. Currently, Michelle works with clients preparing bookkeeping and payroll as well as managing the office needs of our company and staff.

Michelle and her husband are the 4th generation to live on the family farm located in Southern Chesapeake. She enjoys spending her free time walking the fields with her furry friends and laying in the sun on a beach, any beach.

Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist, Tax Preparer

Danielle joined our team in October 2016. She has 10+ years experience as an office manager and in bookkeeping. Her extensive experience includes accounting, payroll, full general ledger, individual tax preparation and quickbooks knowledge.

Originally from Alabama, Danielle recently moved to this area after spending 3 years stationed with her husband in Hawaii. She is looking forward to making Virginia her forever home. Her vast knowledge of the unique needs of military families helps us to provide more customized service for our troops.

When not working Danielle enjoys baking, reading, spending time with her husband and 2 children.

BERNICE MARTIN

BERNICE MARTIN

Bookkeeping & Payroll Specialist

Bernice joined our team in December 2016. She has 13+ years of banking experience as well as 4 years experience assisting clients with real estate legal needs. She has embraced the customer service environment of our company and looks forward to building individual relationships with our clients.

Bernice will be assisting our payroll and bookkeeping clients and will soon expand her knowledge into individual tax preparation.

She is the loving mother to 2 girls who live in Pensacola, FL and 2 stepdaughters from Virginia. She and her husband enjoy wine tasting and taking advantage of the many art venues in our area. She has found great pleasure in nurturing and spoiling her two fur-babies Marcos and Isabela.

LAURA WHITNEY

Bookkeeper

Laura joined our team in October 2017 as a part-time bookkeeper. She has a bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from the University of West Florida. She previously worked for the Air Force as an auditor and a budget analyst. After the birth of her twins, she became a stay-at-home mom.

Laura is a military spouse and relocated to the area in the summer of 2017. She and her family were previously stationed in South Carolina, Germany, Kansas, and Florida, and look forward to being in Virginia for as long as they are able. In her free time, Laura enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, and photography.
